Description

Rainbow-hued spirals and counter-spirals form a symbolic heart. At the core of the heart is a pearl which represents its energy. This is not the physical energy of each heartbeat, but the essential expression of heart-based compassion and heart-centered living. Simply put: think less, feel more.

Surrounding the symbolic heart in this painting are branches of fractals. When I finished creating this piece, it looked like cherry blossoms to me. It still does! When I saw this art in my inner vision, the arching branches were fractals—Mandelbrot sets, to be exact. Fractals are self-similar patterns that appear the same whether zooming in or out. Benoit Mandelbrot was a mathematician who was the first to use the computer to create geometric, repetitive patterns that he named “fractals.” The physiology of our respiratory and circulatory systems are fractal forms. The human heart is filled with fractal networks, but let’s not get too focused on the mathematics here. This painting is all about the beauty of the heart and how it’s a pulsating expression of you that moves out into your world.
